GAFFNEY, S.C. —
An Upstate man was charged with attempted murder after he shot another man trying to repossess his vehicle, according to Capt. Ron Ramsey with Gaffney Police Department.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday on Beltline Road, Ramsey said.
The victim was attempting to repossess a tractor-trailer truck when the owner shot him in the leg after an argument, Ramsey said.
Ramsey said the suspect, Russell Gerrod Smith, left the scene and was arrested in Cleveland County, North Carolina.
Smith has been charged with attempted murder, Ramsey said.
The victim was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center.
