Illinois Repo Clown Acts Like Cop & Gets Arrested
TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 34-year-old man from Chatham was arrested in Taylorville after allegedly posing as a police officer and macing someone Friday night.
On Sept. 19, several citizens contacted Taylorville officers about police activity and a disturbance on the square. 34-year-old Jordan Monroe, who works for a repossession company, was allegedly posing as a police officer and had pulled someone over. A verbal altercation then ensued.
According to Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler, the altercation turned physical which led to Monroe macing the person he pulled over and holding them at the scene against their will. Once on scene, officers found Monroe to be wearing a police vest, having red and blue police lights on his car and in possession other illegal equipment in his vehicle which he was using to pose as a police officer.
He was arrested for impersonating a police officer and unlawful restraint.
Monroe has an extensive criminal history in Sangamon County, including a situation in which he was convicted of attacking a customer at his rental car company on Aug. 10, 2021, in a parking lot at 1900 W Jefferson Street in Springfield. He initially faced up to 10 years in prison but was sentenced to 24 months’ probation in December 2023. He successfully completed probation early and this case was closed as of July 31, 2025.
Before that incident, Monroe was previously convicted of aggravated robbery, criminal damage to property and aggravated battery, among other things, in Sangamon County, all of which resulted in one-to five-year prison sentences. He even had a trial pending for an insurance fraud charge, among various other cases, while his aggravated battery against a customer case was still open.
