Fla. R/O Arrested After Pulling Gun On Agent

Fort Myers police officers successfully apprehended a suspect accused of aggravated assault with a firearm on an out-of-county warrant from Hernando County.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, on April 18, officers took Mitchell Anthony Vega, 32, into custody on an out-of-county warrant.

Vega is wanted in Hernando County after being accused of threatening a repo driver with a gun while the driver was attempting to tow his vehicle.

FMPD officers began searching after receiving information that Vega may have been headed towards Fort Myers and was possibly armed.

Officers located Vega in the Cleveland Avenue corridor. A traffic stop was conducted and Vega was taken into custody without incident, FMPD said.

While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers found a firearm, which was collected as evidence. Vega was transported to the Lee County jail, FMPD said.
