Collateral Recovery Repossession News And Directory

UPDATE: America’s Car-Mart 72 Hours Or Else!

America’s Car-Mart has received yet another extension from its lenders, but this time the breathing room is getting considerably shorter. According to a November 2 report from Auto Finance News, the subprime auto retailer has been granted just three additional days to address approximately $892 million in debt obligations, pushing its latest deadline to November 4.

This marks the latest in a series of extensions dating back to June, as the company continues trying to secure financing and satisfy lender requirements. The increasingly short extensions suggest that negotiations remain difficult, with little indication that a long-term resolution has been reached.

For the repossession industry, Car-Mart remains a company worth watching. Its business model depends heavily on financing customers directly, meaning its loan portfolio, collection operations and vehicle collateral could become significant factors in any restructuring, sale or potential bankruptcy proceeding.

For now, there is no confirmed announcement of bankruptcy or liquidation. But the clock is ticking, and the next few days could tell us considerably more about the direction of one of the country’s better-known Buy Here, Pay Here operators.
