TexasARP Statement on Free Storage and More Developments
TexasARP intends to follow the AIR lead
Happy New Year! Beginning 2023, TexasARP wishes Members and Non-Members alike, to be clear on our stance regarding the “No Free Storage” campaign initiated by the Alliance of Illinois Repossessors (AIR).
TexasARP absolutely supports and stands behind AIR. The TexasARP board has seen the AIR formula, in which they calculated the cost of storage per vehicle for their region and are impressed by the amount of analytics and calculations they completed before their announcements.
We at the TexasARP also support and applaud their action to stop accepting work from both forwarders and major lenders that were unwavering by the expiration date of the AIR demand. TexasARP intends to follow the AIR lead in actions that make sense for our members and our space.

Our next step is to complete our own analytics and calculations for our region. To make this as accurate and impactful as possible WE NEED YOU, Texas Agents! As said, we have the AIR formula to calculate storage costs, but we want to make sure we give members and non-members the opportunity to use this resource, to show strength in our space, and for this cause.
Please email, info@texasarp.org to set up an appointment for one of our board members to go over the cost formula with you, and add your costs to our data compilation that we will be presenting next month both publicly and to Lenders and Forwarders.
There is no better time to get involved in TexasARP or any State Association. TexasARP boasts one of the largest memberships, but we do have a lot of geography to cover, and we are stronger together. Join online at www.texasarp.org. Membership is only $375 per year. For virtually the cost of one repo, you can be a part of the change sweeping the industry.
Some of the benefits of membership are a public listing as an accredited agent under the member search on the website, company information in our printed member directories which are distributed to local and national clients, a team to fight for you and support you, and a network of camaraderie.
We Are Engaged
We attend many national and local trade shows outside of the repo space like TIADA, NIADA, and Used Car Week, to educate on the importance of hiring a professional and accredited repossessor and to market our members.
Most recently, we have begun work on our members area of our website which will offer compliance and training materials and compliance and training information for you and your employees. TexasARP also works closely with other state and national associations for the betterment of the industry.
In the past TexasARP has been involved in the creation of Repo Alliance and the constant fundraising to ensure our industry continues to have a voice on the hill for the first time in history. We have endlessly educated lenders and forwarders on pain points of repossession companies, cost vs fees, and have helped shape many of the positive changes you have seen nationwide recently and in the last three years. We have worked locally to bring back DMV portal access to repossessors. We have created a culture of respect amongst agents which has changed the landscape of our space.
There is still so much work to do and TexasARP looks forward to accomplishing much more this year for our space and for the industry.
New Committees
We are excited to announce that we have formed five committees within TexasARP:

The Technology Committee will be tasked with working on the issues we face regarding the many portals, apps, software, and hardware items we utilize every day to do our jobs, and to come up with ideas for solutions and progress.
The Membership Committee will be tasked with not only growing our membership but creating partnerships with vendors to implement more member benefits.
The Marketing Committee will make sure that the newest information is always shared with our members and our space. From local information, to changing federal regulations, to upcoming events, and general industry news.
The Grievance Committee will offer support to anyone that has an issue or incident with a member and will offer support to members that have issues or incidents with other members, vendors, and clients alike.
The Collaboration Committee will be instrumental in the constant communication between TexasARP, all the other existing and forming State Associations, and the National Associations.
