A Marietta man is accused of hit and run following a dispute with a repossession company.
Anton Raynard West, 47, is accused of initially being in a verbal dispute with a repossession company that was trying to tow his 2008 black Cadillac Escalade on Jan. 3 at 11:49 a.m. at the Quality Inn at 1255 Franklin Gateway in Marietta. While the vehicle was raised in the air and hitched to the tow truck, West got in and attempted to drive in reverse, according to an arrest warrant by the Marietta Police Department.
While driving reverse, West destroyed the median barrier, including taking down signs, a tree and destroying the foundation of the median. West also struck a red 2014 Chevy Malibu, destroying the entire front drivers-side bumper, before fleeing the scene, according to the warrant.
West is charged with driving – hit and run; and criminal damage – second degree. He was arrested on Jan. 3 at 2:49 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
West was released on a $3,000 bond.
