Michigan RO Rams Fence, Gets In High Speed Chase
At 12:19 a.m. on Nov. 1, Saginaw Township police officers responded to Best Towing, 3689 Fashion Square Blvd., after the manager at neighboring Stardust Entertainment Center called 911 to report damage to a shared fence. Officers contacted Best Towing’s management, who provided surveillance camera footage of several people breaking through the fence into the repo lot and entering a black 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Tahoe then sped off, crashing through a locked gate and causing more than $9,000 in damage, prosecutors allege.
The Tahoe had previously belonged to 31-year-old Jasmine K. Dillard and was recently repossessed, police confirmed.
Police on Dec. 3 stopped the vehicle on Interstate 675, Dillard behind the wheel, they alleged. Officers asked her to step out of the SUV, at which point she allegedly sped off at speeds exceeding 100 mph, causing other motorists to brake and swerve to avoid her.
Police called off the pursuit.
The afternoon of Jan. 4, police spotted the SUV sitting in the driveway of a Saginaw residence. Police stopped, found Dillard, and arrested her.
Dillard on Tuesday, Jan. 7, appeared before Saginaw County District Judge Terry L. Clark for arraignment on charges of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of a building between $1,000 and $20,000, fourth-degree fleeing and eluding police, illegal entry, and reckless driving. The first three counts are felonies, while the last two are misdemeanors.
Dillard is to appear for a preliminary examination on Jan. 28.
