Collateral Recovery Repossession News And Directory

Okla. Agent Stands Ground & Get’s Arrested

A Comanche County tow truck operator was arrested and charged with obstruction after he was accused of repossessing a vehicle he wasn’t supposed to.

Albert Ortega Velazquez, 54, of Lawton, made his initial appearance in Comanche County District Court on Dec. 30 where he received the misdemeanor charge of obstruction, records indicate.

Velazquez was arrested following the incident. It began with the Dec. 27 report of a stolen vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies spoke with a representative from Twister Auto Sales who said earlier in the day, a 2013 Dodge Durango the dealership rents out was repossessed by A&S Recovery; the vehicle was located at the business, the probable cause affidavit states. Investigators learned the Durango had no lien on its title.

Velazquez and his wife were called and came to the location. He produced a paper with information the owner, another person, had a lien against the vehicle by Credit Acceptance Corp but there was no order of replevin (a court order directing a quick recovery of assets) offered, the affidavit states. Investigators determined that Twister Auto Sales was the registered owner and there was no lien listed on the vehicle.

Velazquez was told that the “ordeal” could be remedied by allowing the Dodge to leave the lot and go back into the owner’s possession. He refused and was told he would be arrested for a stolen motor vehicle and he responded: “This is a civil matter and you’re going to supersede your badge & you’re going to supersede your qualified immunity, so keep playing the game and that’s okay, I can play the game very well,” according to the affidavit. When told either the vehicle leaves the property or he would be arrested, Valazquez said “take me to jail,” investigators said. He was then taken into custody. His wife opened the gate to allow law enforcement to return the vehicle to its owner.

Velazquez pleaded not guilty and was released on $5,000 bond. He returns to court at 9 a.m. March 18 for the sounding of the jury docket, records indicate.

There will be another trial for Velazquez before then.

Velazquez made his initial appearance on Sept. 23, 2025, after pleading not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of pointing a weapon at another, records indicate. He returns to court at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 for the sounding of the trial docket.
