PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police say two gunmen opened fire on a tow truck in Northeast Philadelphia, killing one man and injuring a woman.
It happened just before 8 p.m. on Sunday on the 2100 block of Knorr Street near Bustleton Avenue.
Police say a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were sitting inside a tow truck when two suspects pulled up next to them in a silver or gray Honda and opened fire.
The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been identified as Aaron Whitfield from the 6400 block of Clearfield Street.
The woman was rushed to Jefferson Einstein Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. She is listed in stable condition.
Her identity has not been released.
Video from the scene shows the tow truck riddled with bullets.
Police say some bullets also hit a nearby second-floor window.
“Inside that floor is an Asian senior center, and there were multiple people inside when those bullets came through those windows, ” said Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace. “Fortunately, no one on that floor was injured.”
There’s no word yet on a motive, and no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to call Philadelphia police.
