Repo Shooter Finally Arrested In Florida

After spending more than six months wanted in connection with two armed repossession confrontations, a South Florida man is finally behind bars.

Authorities arrested 46-year-old Torey Eugene Williams on Wednesday after investigators say he threatened repo agents with a firearm during two separate attempts to recover his Lexus GS back in October — including one incident where a shot was fired into a tow truck.

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, court records show Williams remained out of custody for months after the incidents occurred. authorities filed a “not in custody probable cause affidavit” in the Broward court system on April 27 in Broward County on April 27 before taking him into custody this week.

The first incident reportedly happened October 10 in Davie when a repossession crew located Williams’ Lexus at a shopping center on Stirling Road. Investigators say the vehicle had already been lifted when Williams approached the tow operator armed with a handgun.

According to court documents, Williams allegedly pointed the firearm at the driver and ordered the crew to drop the vehicle. Fearing for their safety, the repo agents disconnected the Lexus, allowing Williams to leave with the car.

Just five days later, another repossession attempt at Williams’ Miramar residence allegedly escalated even further.

Police say a tow operator attempting to recover the same Lexus at a home on Riviera Drive was confronted by Williams, who again emerged armed. During the confrontation, a round was fired into the tow truck.

Williams reportedly told investigators the gun discharged accidentally after he slipped and dropped it while confronting the driver. However, detectives said surveillance footage showed Williams turning toward the tow truck and repo operator at the moment the firearm discharged.

After months on the street following the incidents, Williams was finally arrested Wednesday and booked into the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.

He is now facing two aggravated assault charges tied to the Davie confrontation, along with an additional felony charge for allegedly firing into an occupied vehicle during the Miramar incident.

Jail records showed Williams was being held on a $5,000 bond as of Thursday morning.
