Collateral Recovery Repossession News And Directory

RO Shot In KY By Agent (UPDATE)

A man has been arrested after a shooting over a car being repossessed from a library parking lot in Boone County.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Boone County Public Library on Burlington Pike for a reported shooting around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the victim is an employee at B&B Recovery who responded to the parking lot to repossess the suspect’s vehicle.

The B&B Recovery employee told detectives he was still in the lot when the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Samad Green, walked out of the library.

The employee said he told Green he could get any personal items out of his vehicle before he repossessed it.

That’s when the employee said Green got out a “steak knife” from the vehicle, cut the strap covering the driver’s side tire and attempted to drive off.

As he was doing this, police said the employee told officers he called 911, where he was heard telling Green not to approach him and told dispatchers he was armed.

Police said the situation escalated, with Green stabbing the employee in the right hand and getting ahold of his gun.

Police said Green then fired multiple rounds, hitting the employee in the right calf.

Officers responding to the scene saw Green armed with the handgun. Green complied with officer commands and was arrested without incident.

The employee was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury and has since been released.

Police said in a statement to officers, Green said, “I’m probably in the wrong. I shot a man. I didn’t have the right to, but he didn’t have the right to pull a gun on me.”

Green told detectives he fired once at the employee. Officers at the scene located three shell casings.

Green is charged with one count of assault, one count of robbery, one count of tampering with physical evidence, one count of criminal mischief and one count of wanton endangerment.

He is currently lodged at the Boone County Detention Center, where he is held on a $250,000 cash bond.
