SWAT Arrests Texas Man After Shooting Recovery Truck

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) — A man was arrested Thursday after firing a gun at a tow truck driver who was trying to repossess a vehicle, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving gunfire in the 7400 block of Sparta Road, just west of Belton, around 2 p.m., the sheriff’s office confirmed.
According to authorities, the preliminary investigation found that Ryan Neal Amos came out of his residence and confronted a tow truck driver with a handgun while the driver was attempting to repossess a vehicle. As the driver fled the scene, Amos fired the gun and hit the tow truck.
Deputies tried to contact Amos, but he refused to come out of the residence, officials shared. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, crisis negotiators and criminal investigators were called to assist. The Temple Police Department also helped by using a drone to get a visual of the residence, allowing officers to keep a safe distance.
After negotiations, Amos surrendered to deputies without incident and was arrested, the sheriff’s office confirmed. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and his bond was set at $45,000. He remains in custody at the Bell County Jail.
