BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A repossession case turned violent in Baltimore City after investigators said a man assaulted and robbed a tow truck driver.
Lamont Jeremiah Jones, 45, is wanted on charges, including armed robbery.
The United States Marshals Service has now joined the search.
According to investigators, Jones confronted a tow truck driver who was attempting to repossess his Tesla on West Saratoga Street in southwest Baltimore on October 29, 2025.
“Jones reportedly demanded the driver drop his vehicle and when he refused an argument ensued,” Jennifer Mazza, Deputy Marshal with the U.S. Marshals Service, told FOX45 News.
According to the statement of charges found in court documents, investigators said the driver called 911 and while on the phone with dispatch, Jones pulled the driver out of his truck and snatched his cell phone out of his hand.
The driver reported to police that Jones then punched him in the face, and brandished a black weapon in his waistband while stating, “You don’t want to die over this sh*t.”
“The victim reported the suspect realized he had called 911. He hung up the call, and fled the scene with the victim’s cell phone,” Deputy Mazza said.
Officers responded to the scene and ran the tags of the Tesla.
Investigators detailed the vehicle came back to Lamont Jeremiah Jones as the registered owner of the vehicle.
According to the statement of charges found in court documents, the victim then positively identified Jones as the man who assaulted and robbed him. A warrant was then issued for Jones’ arrest.
The U.S. Marshals Service detailed Jones has a rather extensive criminal history with previous arrests for drugs, including possession with intent to distribute, assault, robbery and a weapons violation.
Court records also show Jones was on probation at the time of this crime following a 2022 conviction in Howard County for being in possession of a firearm with a felony conviction.
Records show a judge suspended all but a year and a half of Jones’ 10-year sentence and placed him on three years of probation following his release.
Jones is now once again accused of being in possession of a firearm, but in this case while allegedly assaulting and robbing a tow truck driver.
“It’s pertinent that we apprehend Jones, so he can answer to this crime,” Mazza said.
The U.S. Marshals Service warns Jones should be considered armed and dangerous, is known to abuse drugs and has violent tendencies.
He’s described as standing at about 5’9” and weighs approximately 230 pounds.
