Saginaw RO Pleads Guilty To Stealing Unit Off Lot
SAGINAW, MI — A Saginaw woman has admitted in court to stealing her repossessed SUV from a local towing company and leading police on a high-speed chase on Halloween night.
Jasmine K. Dillard, 31, on April 22 appeared before Saginaw County Circuit Judge Darnell Jackson and pleaded guilty to single counts of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle and fourth-degree fleeing and eluding police. The charges are five- and two-year felonies, respectively.
In exchange for her pleas, the prosecution agreed to dismiss charges of illegal entry, malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000, and reckless driving.
Jackson indicated he would sentence Dillard to a probation term.
About 12:20 a.m. on Nov. 1, Saginaw Township police officers responded to Best Towing, 3689 Fashion Square Blvd., after the manager at neighboring Stardust Entertainment Center called 911 to report damage to a shared fence. Officers contacted Best Towing’s management, who provided surveillance camera footage of several people breaking through the fence into the repo lot and entering a black 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Tahoe then sped off, crashing through a locked gate and causing more than $9,000 in damage, prosecutors allege.
