Oops! 3 Kids In A Repo
SANDY Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Jackie Smith wasn’t about to watch as her car was about to be repossessed.
She wasn’t concerned about the vehicle. Smith was terrified knowing her three children were still in the backseat as the vehicle was about to be towed to an impound lot.
“I heard him pull up and he was backing up as quickly as he possibly could and my car was up in a matter of seconds,” said Smith.
It was a week before Christmas and Smith had just pulled into the driveway of her mother in Sandy. She was behind in car payments and the car was a target for repossession. She was in the backyard when she spotted the driver.
“I came running up to him because I knew my kids were in the car,” she said.
Smith said the driver, representing Camping Company was repossessing the vehicle and taking it to their impound lot in Salt Lake City.
“He was getting ready to shut his door and he says ‘oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t even think to look in the car,'” Smith said.
A neighbor who claimed to have seen the repossession told Good 4 Utah, the driver was courteous and didn’t move the vehicle once he was told children were inside.
But Smith doesn’t see it that way. She said her kids would have vanished had she not seen the tow truck. And she said the look on her children’s faces still bothers her.
“My kids were freaking out wanting to get out of the car,” Smith said. “If I wouldn’t have stopped him he definitely have drove off with my kids.”
Camping Company is based out of Arizona and calls to their corporate officers were not returned.
