Chicago Agent Drops Unit At Gunpoint, RO Fires Shot
A Hammond man has been charged after allegedly shooting at a repossession agent attempting to tow his car, according to court records.
Jeremy Palmer, 38, was charged on Jan. 17 with armed robbery, attempted battery with a deadly weapon, and pointing a firearm. He remains in custody on a $6,000 cash surety bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 29.
Hammond Police were called to the 2700 block of Cleveland Street on Jan. 16 after the victim reported the incident to 911.
According to the victim, he was in the process of loading Palmer’s black Chrysler 300 onto a tow truck when Palmer came outside, yelling, “Drop my shit.” A woman handed Palmer the car keys, and Palmer retrieved a gun from the vehicle before firing one shot.
The victim released the car and fled the scene, later telling police he heard a second gunshot as he was driving away. No injuries were reported.
