Man Arrested For Murdering Dayton Repo Agent

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — A South Carolina man has been indicted on murder and other charges in connection to the shooting death of a Dayton repossession agent.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Thursday that Dayton Police were called Saturday, July 22, to the 2900 block of Lakeridge Court for a shooting. There, they say they found 42-year-old Graylon Russell, who had been shot several times in a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital.

Heck said police determined that Russell had gone to Lakeridge Court to repossess a vehicle when Cobb confronted him and then pulled out a handgun and shot Russell several times, before fleeing on foot.

Demar Leshawn Cobb, 37, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was indicted Thursday for:

  • Two counts of Murder
  • One count of Felonious Assault – deadly weapon
  • One count of Felonious Assault – serious physical harm
  • One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability – prior drug convictions

Heck says Cobb had two prior convictions in Montgomery County for having weapons while under disability, in 2016 and 2021. In 2023, he was convicted of possession of heroin and in 2011, he was convicted of trafficking in heroin.
