Property Pickup Ends With RO Arrested

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WKRG) — A man was arrested after a local tow company found drugs in a repossessed vehicle, according to the Robertsdale Police Department.

An RPD release said officers were called on Thursday around 11:30 a.m. by a local tow company after they had found “a large quantity of a white powdery substance” inside a repossessed 2015 Chevy Silverado.

Officers went to the tow yard and spoke with the reporting person who said the vehicle had been repossessed from the Robertsdale Walmart, according to the release.

Officials said when the tow truck driver was repossessing the vehicle, the owner of the vehicle, Deashton Rudolph, approached him and asked if he could get some items out of it.

The tow truck driver allegedly told Rudolph he would have to come to the tow lot and complete a vehicle inventory to get his things. The tow truck driver then took the vehicle to the tow lot and completed a vehicle inventory, which is when the white powdery substance was found, according to police.

That is when RPD was contacted and an investigation was conducted.

“Three bags containing a white powdery substance which field-tested positive for cocaine were seized in addition to an Alabama ID for Deashton Rudolph which was also located inside the vehicle,” the release said.

The weight of the three bags combined was 36.5 grams, which constitutes drug trafficking in Alabama.

Police said Rudolph was arrested on a felony warrant for drug trafficking when he showed up at the tow lot to gather his things.
