RO Attaches Potential Bomb To Unit In Michigan
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Harrison Township man was arrested in connection with a false bomb threat Tuesday morning in Harrison Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened at the Bradford Drive Willow Point Mobile Home Park in Harrison Township at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officers found a car parked at home at the mobile park with a propane tank in the front seat of the car with an electrical wire running from the tank to inside the middle console, according to the sheriff’s office.
A second propane tank was tied to the driver’s side front wheel with copper wire running underneath the car, according to the sheriff’s office.
There were also several signs inside the car pressed against the windshield warning the car would blow up if anyone had touched it, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials immediately set up a perimeter and evacuated nearby homes, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials with the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad then determined that the bomb threat was a hoax, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officers arrested the man and requested that he be charged with device representing or presented as explosive, which is a five-year felony, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said the man created the hoax as an attempt to prevent his car from be repossessed.
Officials did not release the man’s identity or if the man’s car was ultimately repossessed.
There were no injuries in the incident.
