Tennessee Woman Unloads, Highjacks SUV At Gunpoint
The Memphis Police Department has charged 27-year-old Kelsey Green with aggravated robbery following an incident involving a tow truck driver attempting to tow her SUV.
At approximately 7 p.m., the tow company employee was on Chancery Street near Sutton at Shelby photographing a 2018 GMC Terrain in preparation for towing when a woman, armed with a gun, entered the tow truck—a Dodge Ram 5500—and ordered him to step back. Complying, he raised his hands and retreated. The woman then used the tow truck to lower the SUV and drove off. Another individual entered the GMC Terrain and fled in a separate direction.
The tow truck was abandoned at the apartment complex entrance. The woman eventually joined the other vehicle and fled once more. However, the entire sequence was captured on surveillance and in-truck cameras.
Green, identified as the SUV’s registered owner, was later recognized in a lineup and detained on a $75,000 bond. The reason for the attempted tow remains unclear, and her accomplice is still at large.
