25 Years For TX Man Who Murdered BHPH Owner On Repo
A man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for shooting and killing the owner of a used car dealership in Arlington in 2022. Brian Espy, 33, was found guilty in the May 2022 shooting death of 52-year-old Adel Elhindawi, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
Elhindawi owned a North Texas used car dealership and was attempting to repossess a vehicle when Espy shot him and took the vehicle at gunpoint, authorities said. Espy was originally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery, police said. The charge was upgraded to murder when Elhindawi died days later in an Arlington hospital. An employee at Elhindawi’s dealership, Salem Autos, told police that the dealership had sold Espy a vehicle a month prior to the shooting, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Espy brought the vehicle back to have mechanical issues repaired and the dealership gave him a loaner Jeep to use in the meantime, according to the affidavit.
When Espy’s original vehicle was picked up from the dealership, Elhindawi realized the Jeep had not been returned and attempted to repossess it, investigators said.
