Indiana Dealer Gets Floorplan Repo, Says It’s Just A Remodel
CARMEL, Ind. – Customers of one Hamilton County car dealership are hitting major speed bumps as Indy Wholesale Direct has filed for bankruptcy.
Dustin Hall has always dreamed of owning a Camaro. He didn’t see any red flags when going to Indy Wholesale Direct just off Michigan Road. He traded in his Chevy Equinox in December.
“We got three car payments and only two cars,” said Hall.
A month later, his previous finance company called to let him know he was behind on his payments on the car he traded in.
“$26,420 was the check that Indy Wholesale Direct was supposed to send,” said Hall.
Indy Wholesale Direct has not processed or given Dustin the title to the Camaro yet, so his temporary tags will soon expire.
At the end of January, tow trucks came to repossess the cars at the dealership and the business closed its doors. When customers contact the business, they’re being told they’re remodeling.
“There’s no equipment there, there’s no action, there’s no noise, there’s no vehicles,” said Hall. “I look through the windows, there’s no construction happening, so definitely not remodeling.”
One employee said that dozens of customers are in the same spot as Dustin and his wife.
“If we can’t continue to make the payments on the Equinox that we don’t even have, it’s going to reflect on his credit,” said Rebecca Hall. “It’s not fair, honestly, because it’s not our fault, it’s the dealer’s fault.”
The Better Business Bureau wants to remind consumers to check to see if sellers are accredited on their website before making any purchases.
The Attorney General’s Office has documented 94 complaints against the business over the years and the list continues to grow with the bankruptcy filing. The Attorney General’s Office asks customers to file a complaint with their office as soon as possible to resolve the issues.
Indy Wholesale Direct did not return any messages for comment.
