SC Agent Charged With Murder Hangs Self In Cell

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An man charged with murder after a woman was found dead in May died at the hospital on Saturday, officials said.

According to the Greenville County coroner, the man, 39-year-old Michael Clarkson, was taken to the hospital after Greenville County Detention Center staff located him in the cell on Friday in critical condition. Clarkson was pronounced dead a day later on Saturday, June 1.

He was arrested at a business on New Easley Bridge Road on Tuesday, May 28, after a woman was found dead in Travelers Rest.

Officials said at this time the case and manner of death is still pending. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, June 3.

The State Law Enforcement Division is also investigating the incident.
