Armed Ohio Woman Robs Repo Couple
MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Officers responded to the Golden Gate Gardens at 4:41 a.m. March 1 after a man and woman reported being threatened by a woman with a gun while they were repossessing a vehicle.
The suspect was not in the area when officers arrived, but the man and woman explained the series of events that led to them being stranded with no keys to their tow truck or personal car.
The woman said she was inside the vehicle placing it in neutral when the suspect arrived screaming at them.
She said the suspect pulled her out of the car by her hair.
The suspect then tried to drive the vehicle, but could not because it was already latched to the tow truck.
According to the repossession agents, the suspect then entered the tow truck and moved it about 500 from its initial location.
The woman agent then entered her personal vehicle to call police.
The suspect then entered that vehicle and held a gun to her head. The woman tried to grab her own firearm to protect herself, but the suspect then fled while also stealing the keys to the tow truck.
Those keys contained both sets of personal car keys belonging to the man and woman.
The suspect also destroyed the man’s cell phone as he started to call police.
During the investigation, the registered owner of the repossessed vehicle came out from her apartment to inquire about the commotion.
That woman, 74, told police that her daughter also had access to the vehicle. Officers concluded that the daughter, 37, was the suspect.
Although the mother claimed not to know where her daughter was, officers found the daughter sneaking her mother into their apartment a short time later.
She tried to run from officers when they entered, but was taken into custody at gunpoint.
She was charged with robbery, menacing, having a weapon under disability, grand theft, criminal damaging, obstructing official business, driving under suspension and disrupting public service.
The following day, officers located the tow truck and car keys inside the apartment after obtaining a search warrant.
The gun was not there, but was later located by the repossession agent after he found it under the seat of his car, which the woman had entered during the incident.
