ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) — Police in Aberdeen said officers arrested a man because he took a drastic step to stop his car from being repossessed.

Taurus Harris, 35, of Aberdeen, is accused of stealing a wrecker that had the vehicle attached.

Major Quinell Shumpert said as Harris’s car was being repossessed around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when Harris got in the wrecker and took off with it.

Harris was taken to jail and charged with felony taking of a motor vehicle.

600 block of Bailey Drive – A 42-year-old man told police Tuesday morning he was at the location to repossess a 22-year-old woman’s vehicle. He said he had the tow straps around the tires and was getting ready to leave with the vehicle, when the woman cut the straps off the tires, pulled the car off the tow truck and fled the scene. Police could not locate the woman.

An Albertville man attempting to repossess a vehicle in Gadsden reported an assault Friday morning, after a fleeing driver threw him from the hood of vehicle.

The 34-year-old man told police he was in the 300 block of George Wallace Drive, and was attempting to repossess a gray 2013 Ford Mustang at about 9 a.m. Friday.

The suspect — a 67-year-old Attalla woman — allegedly took off in the vehicle while he was on its hood.

He told police that as she swung onto George Wallace Drive, she slung him off the hood of the Mustang, and he hit the pavement.

He told officers he had some pain in his knees from the incident, but he declined treatment from medics.
