Ford Recall 26V653: Speedometers and Tachometers May Fail

A new NHTSA safety recall affects an estimated 102,159 Ford trucks, including certain 2025–2026 Super Duty models and 2026 F-150 pickups. For repossession agents, transport operators, and fleet managers, the recall is worth checking against vehicles in your inventory and fleet.

Vehicles potentially affected

  • 2026 Ford F-150

  • 2025–2026 Ford F-250 Super Duty

  • 2025–2026 Ford F-350 Super Duty

  • 2025–2026 Ford F-450 Super Duty

  • 2025–2026 Ford F-550 Super Duty

  • 2025–2026 Ford F-600

  • 2026 Ford F-750 Super Duty.

The problem: The analog speedometer and tachometer may stick or move erratically, giving drivers inaccurate readings. An inaccurate speedometer can increase crash risk, particularly when operating a truck in traffic or transporting a vehicle.

Ford’s recall number is 26C46, and the NHTSA campaign number is 26V653. The recall was reported to NHTSA on October 6, 2026.

For the collateral recovery industry, this is relevant to agency-owned trucks, wheel-lift and carrier operations, and transport fleets. Agents should verify affected vehicles by VIN rather than assuming every truck of a listed model year is included.

What owners and fleet operators should do: Check each potentially affected truck using the official NHTSA recall lookup. Ford’s stated remedy is replacement of the instrument cluster module at no charge. Interim owner notification letters are expected to begin October 26, 2026, with further letters anticipated in December when the remedy becomes available. Ford’s recall assistance number is 1-866-436-7332.

Repo Buzz reminder: A recall listing does not automatically mean a specific vehicle is affected. Confirm the VIN and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions before putting a vehicle back into service.
