Cleveland Recovery Truck Takes Gunfire At Lot
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Lakewood man has been charged with felonious assault after police say he aimed a gun through the passenger side of a moving car and fired several bullets at a tow truck he was pursuing. The truck belonged to a company that repossessed a car belonging to the shooter’s girlfriend, prosecutors say.
Keith Wall, 39, shot at the truck in the early morning of April 13 near Private Property Towing in the city’s Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood, police say. Wall was apparently upset with the tow truck driver after being told he would have to wait until opening hours to pick up his girlfriend’s car.
Wall is not in custody. His case is pending in Cleveland Municipal Court.
Tiffany Gibson, 39, who police say drove the car while Wall rode in the passenger seat, also faces felonious assault charges. On Saturday, she was detained on a $10,000 bond. Her case has been transferred to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
The 24-year-old tow truck driver recounted to police how Wall had called him repeatedly that night requesting to pick up his girlfriend’s Nissan Rogue, which had been towed from a Brooklyn apartment complex. The trucker explained to Wall that he couldn’t retrieve the car until the following day.
When the repo man arrived at the impound lot after midnight that morning to drop off a car, Wall and Gibson were waiting for him, police say.
The driver again told Wall he would have to wait until opening hours to pick up the car. He then drove his truck away from the lot, southbound on West 130th Street.
Wall and Gibson tailed the truck as it rounded a corner onto Longmead Avenue, and Wall started shooting, according to a police report. Wall fired three or four rounds from behind the rig, then fired another shot as Gibson passed it, according to authorities.
Police didn’t find any bullet holes in the truck but located two spent shell casings on Longmead. Two area residents also said they heard gunshots, police reported.
